Efficient microbe detection is based on a functioning enrichment phase for which Finnoflag has developed the PMEU. Equally important is suitable and efficient sampling.

The Finnoflag sampling syringe is a new sampler based on a traditional injection syringe but with modifications to suit the collecting of microbiological samples. An adhesive material has been added to the surface of the syringe plunger thus making especially the collecting of swipe samples easier and more efficient. The syringe applies very well also for liquid samples and suspended samples.

After collecting the desired sample a buffer solution or culture media is sucked into the syringe and it is placed into the PMEU. The syringe then acts as a transport container, a miniature fermentor or cultivation chamber and a dosage device in the later stages of the detection process. Used in this way the sampling syringe compensates the use of many other laboratory instruments bringing cost savings. In addition it increases laboratory security while handling pathogen bacteria, which remain inside the chamber throughout the sample processing and cultivation stages.
